From a friend's FB page, apparently it's recent:

Stolen in Hamilton: ’62 Tele ri SunBurst, LP Gold Top

    Stolen Guitars:
Ladies and Gentlemen AND the rest of you... Here are some pics of stolen guitars that have recently been brought to our attention...

    (1) Fender Telecaster, 3 tone sunburst, a Fender reproduction of a
1962 Tele . In almost new condition without a blemish and in a
Fender HSPL case, also immaculate... Serial Number
    JD18004982 (Decal)

    (2) Gibson Les Paul Classic Gold Top... Used, but nice in a HSPL
case... Serial Number: 7-2905 (Ink Stamp)

If you have seen them or know anyone who has OR HAS them, the Hamilton Police, Central Div. should immediately be contacted. Police report incident number 21566798...

Please help recover these instruments and have them returned home.
And to that end, please SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!!
    Thank you very much...

I really hate guitar / instrument thieves.

One stole my 70s strat and dumped it in a field for reasons utterly unfathomable. By the time it was found many
Months later the neck was warped and the whole thing was a real mess. Grrrr.

thanks for helping this guy recover the kit.

Will keep an eye on it. I can’t see how they could sell locally but you never know.

Were these stolen from Bills shop, or are they a friends?

im local to him and his shop.
This area is teeming with meth and crack heads, but i doubt those people would target his place.

My eyes are open, hoping it works out in the end.
Ill go see bill when i get a chance.

I always keep a note of the serial numbers of all of my gear but have often thought that, should one of my guitars get stolen, it would turn up somewhere with the number removed. Recently I’ve taken to, (I’m putting this on here in tge honest belief that no thief will read it!), sticking a label to the underside of the scratch plate with the serial number on it. In the unlikely event that the local opportunist guitar nicker found it, it doesn’t say ‘serial number’ and is in code. Should my stolen Strat turn up, I could identify it as mine by telling the nice policeman what the number was, before even seeing it.
