So very sad. I'm sorry for your loss, I know it hurts.
My heart breaks for you.
I was faced with the same when our family member Gypsy Girl (aka Maw Barker), a Min Pin reached her 18th year.
I never had a small dog; before Maw Barker it was always the larger breeds. When we lived in Alaska we bred and raised wolf hybrid pups and the bloodline still exists.
But old Maw was a special little dog; my best friend too .
So sorry for your loss. 17 years are an impressive ride, and it was both fun and tender obviously.
You’ve made a hard but a very generous move today.
RIP little Jasper.
Damn... that's painful. I know exactly how it feels. Sorry.
Gaaah - again!
Yesterday I got a message from one of my choir buds who had to put down his rescue mutt.
When she arrived she was so "hard" - it the loving home he and his partner provided, she learned it was safe to be "soft".
Jasper - thank you for your service. Rest now.
Peace - Deeve
"The comments are often heartbreaking," he said.
"There are a lot where people are addressing their pet directly, and many tell the story of the pet and the difficult decision that had to be made.
"People have thanked me for making the comic, and I hope it eases their sadness if only just a little."
I'm truly sorry for your loss. It's never easy.
So sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry.
I lost my Pennygyrl 2 years ago. She was with me for almost 16 years.
Its so hard when they are with you for so long.
Hang in there.
He was so cute.
So very sorry. We had to say goodbye to one of our beloved 4 legged family not long ago. She would have been 18 in February, so I understand how big a loss it is. I can tell from your photo that he must have had a wonderful life with you, just as our girl did with us. Painful it is, but if that's the price for having such wonderful companions, I'll pay it.
I’m sorry for your loss.
Oh man, I’m so sorry for your loss MK. I know the feeling only too well, and it rips the heart out every time! Dogs are such wonderful loving creatures, and certainly make our lives a little more special.
Deeves post above bought tears to my eyes in memory of the ones I’ve lost.
Jasper looked a wonderful little guy, and I’m sure he had a fantastic 17 years with you. But now he’s running through the fields over the Rainbow Bridge and making many wonderful new friends.
RIP little fella.
First, sorry for the loss.
I like all kinds of animals but dogs have a special place in my heart. While we grieve at their loss, they also grieve the loss of a beloved owner. Like other posters have stated, I too have gone through the pain of losing a pet and from time to time have fond memories of them.
Time will help heal your (and your wife's) sorrow of losing Jasper but thankfully there will be the memories to look back on and relish.
Sorry buddy, there are no words.
I remember 30+ years ago.. Trying to comprehend weeping harder when I put a dog down, then I did for my Grandparents.
Loved my Grandparents, but I understand it better now.
Sorry to hear that. Best wishes.
Sorry for your loss. Remember that you gave him a happy life
Very to hear this. Having just lost a poodle we had for 9 years, I know how easily they become an important part of your daily life, and how empty you feel when they are no longer around.
So sorry for your loss, my friend. My condolences to you and your family. It's always hard to lose your little buddy. Mine passed a few years ago unexpectedly and I unknowingly played "Old Friends" by Simon & Garfunkel on the guitar to him as he went to bed for the last time. The tears are welling up as I remember and type this.
Thank you, everyone, much appreciated. I would like every post but I feel self-conscious doing that.
Still sad and miss him heaps but happy to not be worrying about his condition and if it was a time or not, as we have the past few months.
