This is Jasper, he was a Chihuahua that was with my wife and I for 17 + years.

Despite liking small dogs I wasn't keen on a Chihuahua at the time, being around the time of the Paris Hilton dogs in handbags era (what a travesty). So I ended up copping a lot of flack for him over the years!

BUT very quickly he was my best little buddy. I worked from home for a number of years and he used to sit on my lap while at my desk for hours on end. He used to come and sing in front of the amp when I played guitar, came to motocross, and LOVED driving in the van with his head resting on the drivers arm looking out the window as if driving himself.

To be fair he was a bit feisty, didn't really like strangers and could be a bit bitchy, but he made up for that by being really cuddly and was all part of the fun :)

Sadly the past few years he lost mobility in his rear hips, his vision, and his hearing (hopefully not guitar related!) so we finally made the decision to let him move on to easier pastures today.

He was a great little guy.

    R.I.P Jasper.

So sorry that Jasper had to pass on. These little creatures quickly become full-fledged family members, and they are easy to love. Prayers and good thoughts headed your way.

    Hi.

This forum needs a ‘sad to hear that’ button, as well as a ‘like’ button. Because, I am sad to hear that.

I’ve never had a pet in Japan, but more than twenty years after my last dog in NZ, I still occasionally wake up, imagining the weight of the cheeky wee bugger having crept onto my bed.

It’s a tough call, but it’s the right call.

    Oh my gosh.
    Rest in peace Jasper.

It's like losing your own flesh and blood.
    Very sad.

Same with my cat Pixel, who’s been with me since 2001. He was sadly put down earlier this year and I miss him terribly.

You certainly have my sympathy. Years ago I had a little Chihuahua Rita who dies at 14. I felt like I had lost a little daughter. These little dogs re fearless and each one loaded with personality. May Jasper RIP

So sorry, Mad, I dread those days. I get misty eyed whenever the thought crosses my mind of losing my boy. Just never enough time.

Oh, that’s rough, man. He’s adorable, and after 17 years together, it’s gonna take some time. That’s a very difficult thing to do, but you made the only right choice. Our fur kids are truly the bright spots in our lives. He’s waiting at the rainbow bridge for you, now. Cherish the memories. They may be too painful to look at now, but in time they’ll comfort you.

Sorry to hear this. Jasper gave you what love he had for 17 years leaving you filled with memories. I swear never to get a new dog every time. Then the wife will walk in with one and it starts over again.
