Yes. And it’s my Mustang.
One would think that I'd feel very 'cool' if I would show up someplace sporting one of these, subjectively 'cool', guitars of mine....but I don't. I almost never play any of them, even at home.
These are 'home decor'...
These are 'players'...
One of the main reasons (of several), is that I can't, as a player, live up to the appearance of these guitars, and would look like a pretentious fool with any of them hanging off of me while playing the slow, 'folky' stuff that I like to do (John Prine, Dylan, etc.).
I don't want to be seen playing any guitar that is obviously cosmically above my skill level, and prefer more universal guitars that look nice, but won't be seen as something as an attempt to divert anyone's attention from my otherwise mediocre performance. In that light, I would rather be playing an Ibanez AS75 hollowbody publically rather than an L5 Gibson.
I can take the coolest guitar ever and make it excruciatingly uncool in 5 seconds just by playing it...
You cannot be married ?? No woman would ever allow that many guitars in one household !
My Gibson Custom Shop R7.
This one. There is NO cooler guitar than a Mosrite Mark I Ventures model!
Or THIS one..Hallmark Custom 60!
Believe it or not, it was her idea to hang many of them on our living room walls. She likes seeing them. There are currently thirteen guitars occupying our living and dining room. The red/cream semi-hollow seen here is not normally upstairs.
The ones I actually play are in the small, lower level 'music/art' room...
This one was pretty cool too:
I love John's green triangle guitar above... that's just beyond cool.
As far as my own guitars, I'd say either the Ric 330-12 or the Kokocaster, based on pure looks alone.
The secret is to never let them get the idea that it’s not normal.
My pink Strat.
Cooler than a penguins clunge on a chilly day.
These make me feel cool.
These are my “home” guitars.
I don’t gig with them as much as my workhorses.
I just pose around the house with them!
Not saying that this Rev Slingshot makes me feel 'cool', but given the gold brushed aluminum body and plastic sides like old Silvertones, and Reverend being a less-known brand generally, it does almost always catch peoples' eyes when playing out to come up for a look and ask questions about it .....
It's actually the opposite. Any guitar I'm playing becomes cool.
But to be serious, no. No guitar prompts me to have a "different energy," or whatever. I play how I play, regardless of what I'm using to play it.
That is definitely the most puzzling photo I have ever seen.
Those all really belong to you? Some of them look to be the same models, so you seem to be buying for color alone. Why so many? Why not just three....that would be bizarre enough. I've seen photos of guys with 12 SGs or something, but there are fifteen of those things in that picture. Makes no sense at all.
I admit that I do admire your lunacy. There's crazy and then there's 15 of those guitars crazy. Now that's crazy.
This may help: https://eastwoodguitars.com/collections/backlund
And yes, he is *that* John Backlund.
Well, I said he was crazy to have 15 of those guitars in that room, but now I see he is even crazier....he actually designs and builds those things!
I'm finished buying guitars. I wish I weren't. Those things are super-cool looking and the price is right.
