My green surf pearl Duo Sonic, It's cool, therefore I'm cool. Even sounds cool. Now how cool is cool?

They all do. And most people dig the sight of any guitar. But this one seems to get the most wide-eyed looks from civilians.

Are coming? Rickenbackers entered the world in 1956 and on that day the world officially became cool.

Ever since seeing GE Smith frequently use a Gold Top Les Paul on his SNL shows, gold tops have always been cool guy guitars to me. I've been playing one for a decade...don't think its rubbed off on me yet.

I remember the day I first saw an ad for them in a guitar mag. Ric introducing a new line. My jaw dropped. Wow, cool. Super cool guitar.

I also remember the reviews not being kind. Essentially they said Ric was going into a world of music (faster playing necks, hotter pickups...) that other guitar makers had more or less cornered the market.

To be honest, yes. But only for one reason—although the neck is marked “B” and so should be the standard 1-5/8” width, it’s only 1-1/2” wide at the nut. So some things get kind of cramped on the lower frets
