As inspired by the guitars that never made it thread, what are some guitars that eventually made it? ones that flopped at first but eventually gained fame.

I'll start with the 59' burst, just two years later Gibson scrapped it for the solid guitar (SG), but now it's THE guitar selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars

I’ve never owned a Les Paul, but I have nothing against it.
I don’t like the look or feel of an SG.
I can’t believe that is still being made.
I’d imagine Angus Young is to be thanked.

No, but from what I've read the Stratocaster was under consideration until orders rebounded circa 1967/68.

I don't think so but I think it was long relegated to the role of the "country electric guitar" before reclaiming its role as the king of all electrics.
