Electric guitar watchers can attest to the popularity of various guitars. Cognoscenti such as ourselves, have witnessed trends, camps, etc. over the years. We know all about Teles, Strats, and Lesters, among others. We know, or seek to learn, who plays what guitars in some band or recording. Less frequently used, it appears, would include Gretsch, Ricky, Guild, and others as well known, if less visible as these.

I wonder what we know about guitars that are even less visible? Let's see, Danelectro used by Randy California, Mark Farner and his Messenger, Vox guitars actually used by whom, Brian May's guitar, etc.

I think things really changed in the 80's. By the mid eighties, Kramer outsold both Gibson and Fender. Elliot Easton had his signature Kramer, as did Vivian Campbell, Richie Sambora, Mick Mars was playing that Kramer Tele, etc. And EVH. Carlos gave up his Gibsons for PRS guitars, Satch, Vai and other shredders were using Ibanez. And on and on.

Joni Mitchell and Reeves Gabrels on Parker Fly's. I loved that.

    Prince on Vox.

Neil Young a few times on tours on Hagstrom.

Edit: are Parkers over and done now?

Maison guitars, anyone? Has anyone ever seen anybody who's anybody playing a Maison guitar? From what the internet tells me they were a Korean company who made their marks creating clones of Strats and Lesters and the like and indeed, that's the pics you find if you Google it. However... I have two very different Maison originals(as in not a clone of something renowned). One looks like a short scale cross between a Strat and a Melody Maker. The other looks like a cross between a Steinberger and a Dimebag Dean. And those Maisons which I have you really can't find any pictures of either. So, just curious... has anybody seen anybody who's anybody use a Maison?

Mosrite (Ventures, Iron Butterfly, Joe Maphis).

Ovation acoustics with the shell were everywhere in the media in the 60s-80s. Why have people turned away from it? One of the worse acoustics for a guitarist sitting down.

Walter Becker, Sadowsky guitars. (Tal Wikenfeld Sadowsky basses, as well as MANY other bass players, Sadowsky seems to be a popular bass with a lot of players.)

In addition to the ergonomics, their signature sound which reflects the plastic back, and at least for me, not in a desirable way. Always really liked the look though.
