Hey all - don from D'Addario here. Recently, we announced the world's first Guitar String Recycling program, "PlayBack". (Mods - if this should be moved to another topic, my apologies in advance)

"Playback" rewards you for recycling ANY brand of used strings, not just ours. You can send back all types, as well as all brands. Shipping the strings back to us, is prepaid - all you have to do is print out the label - slap it on a box. Please note that this is a very new initiative and currently only available in the US.

You can learn more about it here - Playback - The World's First String Recycling Program

This is awesome! I've been saving old guitar strings for years. My wife has always been on me to throw them out, but knowing that they're metal, I just couldn't do it. I bet I've got a few hundred pounds of them already in boxes. I'll ship them out to you guys today!

This is a great idea! I've been tossing mine in the recycling bin, but I've always wondered if they actually get recycled.

Amazing....and I was just on your guys' webpage a couple hours ago trying to figure out how to redeem my player points. I have packages of D'Addario strings from years ago (but I don't think I can redeem those points any longer; it appears that the point program changed somewhat recently ) No big deal, I just feel silly for holding onto this "garbage" as my wife puts it for so many years now....and worst of all I've been throwing the strings in the trash....IVE BEEN SAVING THE WRONG GARBAGE

...not available for Canadians yet apparently. Maybe I can still send them in if I pay the postage myself?

This is so cool! Now to figure out where/how to save strings without leaving cut off ends of high E strings in the carpet to step on. And then the best way to ship them back. Old Amazon box full of strings maybe?

I guess that ends my jewellery project. I've tried to entice my wife to accept a bracelet made from ball-ends rather than wasting money on some Pandora thing. For some reason, she's just not excited about the idea.

I like that idea a lot, especially the colored ball ends.

You show her how lovely it will be. I'm going to try it.

They work through a 3rd party called TerraCycle. Seems pretty legit.
