Need advice. Looking at a guitar stool to buy. Two things are important to me, comfort and cool factor. The 24 inch whiskey barrel stool has cool dripping from it. Anybody have a wood stool at 24 inches that can speak to the comfort of a stool like this? This guy also does the stool with a padded top but the cool factor drops off. The foot rest is at about 6 inches fro the floor if you are going to rest your foot.

The price doesn't bother me, but I don't won't to pay $ 700 either.

No real experience here, but that seems high.

Best quality sitting furniture for guitar playing I've seen were from one-off small furniture stores who buy lots from unclaimed freight type situations and discontinued/partial stuff. Guitar players are fine with 2 stools from a 5 piece stool and bar set, or the chase part of a sectional, or whatever.

So, maximum coolness with lesser price has an ENORMOUS luck factor. Coolest I've tried to buy? Old office furniture, chrome, ugly orange upholstery, medium back, no arms, 30" elevation. Owner wouldn't budge on selling.

Buy something uncool, cheap. Then shop fir it's cool replacement, being picky.

A low stool with a low backrest for proper back support, along with adjustable height that allows you to have your feet flat on the floor is perfect.

Stools with bar-type footrests are comfy only for short periods of time when you have no bar to lean on because you tend to slide out and slouch in the chair. Having your feet on the floor prevents this.

I like the Tama Ergorider drum stool. These are *made* for comfort and coolness.

With Staples closing stores nationwide they are having 20% or more off sales. Their armless computer chairs may fit the bill. I see that their website is showing a lot of furntiture sales now too. Not high on the cool factor but comfort isn't going to be an issue.

I have been using Drum thrones for many, many, may years.
I really love the thrones from Roc'n'Soc, I have several in the house.
They are modular and you can build something to suit a variety of price points.

I have two with the swivel, foot and back rests for guitar and another with a fixed base and no backrest for drums.
