Solo Don Henley, not the Eagles. But you made me wonder who played guitar on that song. Looking it up, I learned that Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers co-wrote and played on the song! Would not have guessed.

Rodney Crowell's version of "Till I gain control again" with Albert Lee's solo. I learnd it 20 years ago and i'm still trying to get it perfect.

Benmont Tench and Stan Lynch, also of the Heartbreakers, played and co-wrote songs on that album. Tench co-wrote Sunset Grill with Henley and Danny Kortchmar.

As for The Boys of Summer I always did like that little bit that Mike Campbell did in there, so tasty, but it's almost a non-solo.

The solo playing behind the slide guitar on the instrumental bridge of Tom Petty's "All or Nothin".
The outro solo on his song "Echo". The guitar work on his song "one more day, one more night". And really just about every other Campbell/Petty tune ever.

I'm trying to get my head around how many effects are on that guitar, tubescreamer, compressor, slapback, treble boost ?

Well, if you're going to showcase D. Boon and Minutemen, his solo here is quite spectacular, just getting the timing down is tricky

1:48 (but listen to the whole song if you've never heard it)

That is a great solo. Cool guitar too. I've been listening to the Minutemen since high school. They're one of those bands I've over listened to. I wish I could could have my memory erased so I could listen to them all over again :).

Here's a great Canadian band. The solo starts at about 1:54 but the whole song is worth a listen.

This is pure Tele for me...Jerry Donohue noodles all the way through, solo starts at 2:45. And what a start, real earworm material to a guitarist.

It's hands-down my favorite solo from May... and that's saying a lot.

That's pretty much what I was going to say; so I just quoted you instead.
