"Scar Tissue"- Red Hot Chili Peppers - John's emotional slide solos are so understated and subtle, but take the song deeper

"Lady Picture Show" - Stone Temple Pilots - Amazing Beatles-esque rocker, Dean's short solo is so lyrical and well written

    Too many examples....

I guess the whole thing is kind of a solo, but I really like Eric Bells playing here....

Any Ricky Nelson song. And this one. Short and simple, but I’ve always liked it.

I don’t know exactly *what* this song is known for, perhaps the girl in the video? But it’s a great solo...and it’s Jeff. BECK! Jeff. BECK!

I will confess that I am not a fan of "solos" but there are four that are my all-time faves (with solo start times):

    Kid - Pretenders (1:30)

Driven to Tears - The Police (1:30)

New Direction - Echo and the Bunnymen (3:15)

    Robyn Hitchcock - Knife (1:59)

    Here are my nominations...

I have always loved the solo by Kerry here.

Hard to say anything by Michael is underated, but this one is for sure.

Nowadays pop stars bring in famous guest rappers to add some rap to their hit songs.

Back in the day pop stars would bring in a superstar guitar player to add a tasty solo to
a huge hit. So these songs were hits mainly because of the pop star and the song, but
the superstar guitar player undoubtedly added some very special sauce. Here's two that
    come immediately to mind:

EVH playing the solo on Michael Jackson's "Beat It":

And SRV playing the solo on David Bowie's "Let's Dance":

As far as hard rock solos go, I think it is very hard to beat Uli Roth's intro to the Sails of Charon. Impeccable playing, perfect composition. Under-rated by the general public but well known by shredders as one of the best of all time:

If y’all are referring to the Carpenters’ hit, Goodbye To Love, the guitarist is the late Tony Peluso.
He passed away at age 60, in 2010.
He played a sunburst dot inlay Gibson ES335.
He had his own unique tuning.
    Great player.
    RIP, sir.

Two Huey Lewis songs come to mind; “I Want a New Drug” and “The Power of Love.”

Not sure if this fits the thread requirements or not, but Rick Vito’s slide solo in Seger’s “Like a Rock” still makes me want to run around in random circles, smacking into things with all the hair standing up on my arms. Even after it got used on all those GM truck commercials. That solo cranked up the intensity just right, to my ear, and while I normally think “beer commercial” when I hear distorted slide, I love his tone and touch on that.
