That's what happens when I get bored and I find enough parts to make a build ;) I present the Hellraiser.

I made this Tele/Strat white pine body a while back and it was time to finish it while experimenting a little.

Re-route the pickup cavity for the humbuckers, a few coats of tint, red and black paint over it and the blowtorch.

Pickguard oups!!! I cut it for a strat... I made it fit in the end.

A few coats of lacquer later and a old OEM strat neck..... sweetness :)

    Man!...that's one UGLY guitar! :)))
No offense, and I bet it's a great player (and that's what counts) but if you gave that to me, I'd have to just gift it on to someone who would like it.
But please....keep at it and don't pay any attention to me.....and BTW thanks for posting.....sometimes seeing things we DON'T like helps us understand the things we DO like. ;)

    That's pretty darn interesting looking?

I'm curious if you did any test finishing on scrap with satin or matte top coat?

Thanks, I would like to see that when it's done.

I did not test or do anything other than gloss finish, gotta go through wnat I have in the shop at the time. But I am definitely interested to try it out on another build.

I was just thinking that with the whole "relic" thing that a non-glossy finish might be just the thing...do try it on the future build! It will be interesting to contrast with the current and see what you like the best for the effect you want to achieve.

Wow, that is a beast! Some bold choices there, I like it.

    What were you thinking!?!?
That was perfectly good wood, and you went and put so much clear lacquer on it!
    :) :p

Nice! Maybe not the best word choice but you know what I mean.

On my third build and I have to say a great deal of the enjoyment comes from making the creative choices. I would like to try something less traditional myself one of these days.

Thank you for the kind and funny replies :) Got something else going on... started today on a ash body from a tree that I cut down and dried. Something special going to happen there .

after staining it looked cool, the high gloss is not helping in this case. (my personal opinion ;-) )
i would use some steel wool ore ScotchBrite to get in the satin region

that thing looks like it was made out of a toilet stall of a biker bar.

In sum... I love it. Great job.
