To us MORTALS it's just another (albeit old & expensive) guitar.

Pretty cool how Leo Fender back in 1950 wired those Broadcasters. Why not now?

I kept/keep the stock wiring in my Nocaster. I actually like it but others don't.
Because I am no expert & I let many guitarists play my guitar, I have actually asked several that question myself.
The most common answer is the usefulness of the dark circuit.
Second place goes to the fact the "tone" makes more of a sound difference than the "blend".
    Hope that helps...

Can you lend me your Nocaster for awhile to test it out? :) Maybe just a few years until I can blend into the woodwork and disappear?

The teacher must have missed some lessons. No, the Broascater wasn't the first solid body guitar they made, Esquire was first, then Leo has been convinced to make a two pickups guitar and there were a few Esquire with two pickups, then the guitar with two pickups took the name Broadcaster and the Esquire kept its single pickup and name. And no, Telecaster name didn't start in 1952, it started at fall 51 (Nocaster go more or less from beginning of february till end of august). In fact, Don Randall found the name Telecaster very quickly after they had to take Broadcaster off (from Broadcast to tele, the lign is straight) but they didn't set decal with Telecaster until they'd finish to use all the previous decals stock. A dollar was a dollar. Just saying this because I'm jealous ;)

He found one and due to the rarity of Broadcasters, and to find one of a super small run of lefty Broadcasters , is, (to quote a line from Aliens VS preditors), "Its like finding Moses' DVD collection! ", I never owned it but me being a lefty I know he has one , and I have always wanted to at least ,see or smell it.

google his gujtar collection OMG , its fricken huge!
