So I’m watching Austin City Limits tonight (Don Henley) and I see not one, but FOUR! kind of unusual guitars. Well, maybe not, but I still didn’t know what they were. Anyone care to ID these guitars? Henley is at least playing a tele (modern player of some variety?)

    Okay - here you go:

The first one is an Ernie Ball Music Man 20th Anniversary Silhouette - limited edition from 2006

The second one is a a Duesenberg Double Cat without the tremolo: https://www.duesenberg.de/en/guitars/double-cat

The third one is also a Deusenberg, a Starplayer TV Custom: https://www.duesenberg.de/en/guitars/starplayer-tv-custom

Not sure what Henley's Tele is - it might be a Fender CS version of the '72 Deluxe, or it could be an MIM with a replacement neck (Fender did a few FSR runs with MIM Standard necks instead of the Strat headstock 3-bolt neck), or it could even be an original Tele Deluxe from 72-81 with a replacement neck. He had that one when I saw the Eagles in 2010 - he had hurt his knee earlier that tour and didn't play drums at all that night so he played that Tele a lot.

This is Leon Bridges. What the heck?

Leon Bridges has a National Airline map guitar of some kind - or one of the many copies/reissues of them like Eastwood. Too much glare on the headstock to see if it's a recent one or an vintage one; here's a link to the Eastwood version:

I've never gotten to play one but I've heard of them - Joe Walsh has (had?) a deal with them so I guess Steuart Smith (their replacement for Don Felder, who is also touring in Henley's band) has a bunch of them. He also has a bunch of EBMMs.

Duesenbergs are a German brand - from what I've read the bodies/necks are made in Korea, shipped to Germany as husks were they are final assembled with German parts. Here in the USA they are really pricey - I used to live near one of their bigger dealers (Willcutt Guitars in Lexington KY) but I was always there to try out things like PRS, Collings, Huber (a brand that really is 100% made in Germany), Gibson Historics and Fender CS. Never did have them pull out a Duesenberg for me. They are evidently big in the Prayer & Worship scene.

EDIT: I misspelled Steuart Smith's name so I came back and fixed it.

Mike Campbell likes Duesenbergs, they even made a signature model for him.

IIRC, he ran a contest for charity a few years ago when he gave one away.

I've heard they're pretty nice, but I've never gotten to play one.

Jason Isbell also plays a Duesenberg sometimes.
