You'd better get rid of that Tele in your avatar then!

I don't like target bursts (used on mid-60s Strats), cherry bursts on LPs, sienna bursts or silverbursts (they look like a black & white photo). Black only looks good with a maple neck and a black or tort pickguard. Not keen on Sherwood green at all. Finally, I hate (not just in the Internet sense) those basses you get in a golden brown see-through colour with a through neck.

+1...I think black looks good on Fenders with white pickguards and maple necks.

A sunburst Strat or Tele just does nothing for me... on the other hand, I love a nice burst on a Gibson Les Paul, go figure.

Man, I must be one twisted neck pup, because all this hatred is really making me feel calm and at peace. I feel privileged to be showered in the splashback of the nitrocelluose pent-up finish-loathing of the internet guitar-watching species.

Seriously, it's good to know I'm not alone in my cringeing.

I'm not a huge fan of black or red guitars although there are some that's I've liked, and I've never seen a green guitar that I liked....but I can get along with most colors.... The finishes that I really can't stand are things like Camo and those hideous zakk wild LPs and other weird finishes like those splatercasters that Fender did.... I've also never really been a fan of quilted tops (no matter what color they are)..... I would also normally agree with the OP and other posters that don't like sparkle finishes except........ My Mascis Jazzmaster is pretty bada$$...

I have more concerns about a person who equates guitar color to organ size than i do about any color in particular.

I just don't get it. I see a guy with a CAR tele and I say to myself "oh it's a CAR tele" not "Oh he must be trying to compensate for something" truly baffling to me. I tend to think things are what they are, not what they may or may not represent.

Very rarely do i see a guitar of any color and think it's "wrong", some of the molded guitars like the "Devil Girl" guitar or very odd shapes like the BC Rich 'Warlock" I would never want to own and think they look silly.

Different guitars appeal to me in different colors, hate is a pretty strong term to describe my finish preferences. One finish I really don't care for is Gibson's silverburst, other burst's are fine, I just don't care for this one.

I agree with ne4tt about guitars with graphics, his example or the EVH stripes would have appealed to me 25 years ago but I'd be embarrased to play one in plain view today. However; I will admit to the fact that 25 years later I'd still love to build my own superstrat and finish it like an F-4 Phantom in S.E. Asian camoflage scheme.

I can't stand quilted maple with translucent finishes. It just looks pretentious.

Then again, I am firmly in the flat black/rat rod/reliced camp

"Hate" is such a strong word.

We live in a wonderful world...our "planks" can be painted to about any color and look great.

Can't do that with a non-plank guitar though.

A sparkled Stromberg Master 400 would not seem very pretty to me.

If you know what I mean.

Don't really like black either, but my flat black Gretsch looks awesome!

Quite so. However, if I had the opportunity to get hold of a really great guitar and the only thing holding me back was the colour, I might well consider it. Case in point: a Fender Custom Shop double-bound Tele in Burgundy Mist Metallic I played recently. An absolutely sublime guitar. I wasn't taken with the colour, but if it had been available to me at the right price I would very likely have gone for it.

I really can't summon any hate for guitar colors. Maybe some i-hate.

That said... I'm not a fan of gold, sparkle or any type of pattern (except grain) "neon"-colors, black hardware, matching headstocks or painted necks.

    Haven't decided on antigua yet.

Then again... it also depends on the model. LPB looks nice on a strat, but on an LP?

I don't mind sparkle finishes on guitars. The only thing to me is that they remind me a bit of the finish you get on fairground rides and bumper cars.

How could one be so wrong? Three for three!

Sparkle for the stage 'cos guitar players want to be seen. I ain't no shrinking wallflower.

Paisley for freaks. Wave that flag high, burn convention to the ground.

Metallic for cars. Come on, if you don't get the connection between guitars and cars you may be from the UK or you ride the bus!

"Hate"? No, but I'm really not a fan of the really yellow BSB.
