I wonder how different these are from the Grotes on Amazon for the same price, and with free shipping?

Looking at the headstock, it resembles that of a Jay Turser.

I had a Turser 335 knockoff in Blonde. For the price it was a real nice guitar.

Pickguard looks a little different, but otherwise...

That being said, the Grote 335s look pretty good - especially the ones with P90s.

The 'Best Choice Products' 335 on Amazon for $164.99 is the same guitar, I'm pretty sure.

A friend of mine plays a Grote as his primary guitar in a touring band. It sounds great and as far as I know has never needed any work.

Jay Turser is made in a Factory named Museinc. They make Washburn, Oscar Schmidt, Bootleg brand guitars, Tagelwood, Hagstrom and others as well. It is a name brand they use. I own a Jay Turser Jazz box.

I had 6 or 7 Tursers at one point. I still have a 7 string and an electric resonator.

Not my pics, but those are the ones I've got.

Howz that resonator sound? Any acoustic sound from it?

Acoustically, it sounds like a banjo.

I got it from the NYC rep for Turser once they closed the doors. He pulled the stock mini-humbucker and replaced it with a DiMarzio Super Distortion. It's not much for a clean sounds, but put a little gain behind it and it'll blow your doors off.

It's also go a piezo pickup in the bridge, and the back knob is a blend control. Makes for some cool combinations.

So what’s the verdict here? 6 beers after a hard day after work almost had me pulling the trigger here.

I just pulled the trigger on a different off-brand guitar last night, so I'm out.

I OWN one of the Grotes myself, and bought one for my guitar tech. (he was very impressed when I took mine to him for set-up) The BIG difference is, to my knowledge, is that Amazon is out of stock of the Grote 335-style. Here's mine. IMG_0218.JPG
Edit....I was mistaken. Amazon IS showing them in stock at this moment. I agree with @beyer160 ......with free Prime shipping, the Grote is the way to go! ;)

I still have a red one (bought new in the early 2000's) and it is a really nice guitar.

Just checking Amazon now, it looks like there are a few of both the humbucker and P-90 'Grote 335's' in stock ) 7:15 PM ET ( USA)

    * I feel myself going on a 'cheap electric' expedition...

...which I totally don't need but will have to try very, very hard to resist ordering.

Not the same guitar as the GF one. Electronics and strap button are in different places.

Oh, and now I see the Slick Tele with 'Trons...
