The brown ones for $199 are getting very hard to find at stores so if you want one I wouldn't wait!
That's more than fair then... still for the average player, it's a very fun amp at a great price IMHO.
BTW, no tone knob on yer guitar? What kind of toy guitar do you play?
ha ha... sorry man!
I did play one.... I have a friend who buys everything... for awhile.. (remember how Eric used to buy and flip guitars all the time?) anyway, he had it and LOVED it... (remember those squier 99 guitars that everyone wanted? the tele neck but weird body)... and he said I had to play it...
so, I did. It was okay... but what was cool is the enclosure and the idea... it just sounded like a cheap amp to me. not bad, just cheap and something that won't be around in a couple of years (like those squiers) and it will 'remember when'...
but, you are right and I am very wrong.. I should not have commented...
continue the excelsior love!
That pink thing is fire wood. All of my guitars have tone knobs. Why doesn't the FenEx?
Well, it can be easily modded to have one, but I haven't found the need. The three inputs all have different tones, and between them, the tone slider, and my guitar tone knob and pup selector, I have plenty of options. I usually just find a tone I like with any amp and leave it, then adjust at the guitar.
Besides, some amps sound so good they don't need a tone knob
It's a cool deal. I really dig it's looks. I would consider it if I didn't already have a few similar Lo-Fi screamers. They are a lot of fun and you can get great tone from them when you dial them in. The dark ones LOVE to be boosted. The one that has me gassin' is the Vaporizer. If that one follows suit next year when the new batch of Pawn Shop amps come out I will be all over it.
That's comparing a diamond to an ice cube. Or caviar to shilt on a shingle.
There's a reason the brown ones are cheap.
Hey, I'd FAR rather have pizza than caviar ANY day... even frozen pizza! Even creamed chipped beef on toast (if that's what you meant). Actually LOVE that stuff!
Great American eatin'
That looks like somethin' my cat left by the back door.
How did you train your pet rabbits to poop on toast? :?:
Do they align north/south too?
Rabbit poop is much larger. Just a little smaller than deer poop
The real question is how many Mickey's Big Mouths did it take to yack up that SOS?
Those are on Texas toast...
Don't drink Mickey's
Smells like caviar
A most interesting review here on the Excelsior amp line. Rabbit poo, SOS, frozen pizza and brown stuff. If this thread gets up top on the google ranking they won't be able to give em' away for $9.95
I am glad I still have my squier51s. Maybe just right combination A Squier and an Excelsior. Btw the 51 has made a return.
I think I will see if my local GC has one of the Amps. If not I know Yellowmama music has one I can test run.
I really don't need another amp, but I am sure this is lighter than lugging my old 78 Peavey Classic 2 12 around to practice each week.
You have deciphered their secret plan. FenEx's for $9.95!
Naw, it won't hurt the FenEx, or any new, fun and inexpensive gear deemed "not worthy" by some.
Anyone who reads ANY guitar forums knows the drill, and knows what to ignore.
They choose to buy what they like... ignoring the caviar, the sniffers, and move on.
And, as someone in this thread said previously about buying gear: "After all, it's supposed to be fun, right? "
Hey, we all have our own tone preferences and needs -- especially you guys that gig regularly -- and I'm not saying the FenEx is the Holy Grail Amp by any means... however, I'll bet if you and Fezz spent a bit more time with one, trying all the inputs, keeping the tone slider on dark, adjusting your guitar tone, you might well change your mind. Also can't argue that the swampy tremolo on it is pretty damn nice, even if it does lack a depth knob.
Playing my dual 6L6 Super 210 next to the FenEx again this morning, I love both, but both have different qualities to be admired. And considering that the FenEx is continuing on with the pastel "pro" models with same amp components, but an upgraded speaker, I'll bet it will be around for quite a while, and probably is the best of the PS series so far IMHO.
