I watch a lot of early KISS footage. More than a middle aged man should.

I’m not surprised that you’re taking it so seriously. We get a lot of that here. I’m certainly not of the opinion that there’s any man “realer” than any other. But when someone posts about a “man card”, then someone else questions him on it and gets blown off, I might put my tongue right into my cheek as well and mention it in this way. Sometimes we find that our humor differs from that of others. I’m breathing and I hope you can too. Peace be with you.

Has anyone posted anything by the band "Bread" yet? Because if you have, the answer is "Yes", you should indeed turn in your man card.

Shouldn't we be putting our man card down, face up? I'm confused about what a man card is anyways. But when you show your cards, don't you show them face up? Oh well, semantics I guess.

That reminds me, my wife asked me this afternoon if I had "checked the mail". I pulled my shorts open at the waist band, looked down and said "Yup, just checked, still male".

I have a guitar book for Michelle Branch's first album and I learned to play this one a while back.

I have a pretty extensive collection of Esquivel on my iTunes. Whenever it comes up on random play, you can find me grinning like an imbecile.

I had this graved in my memory

Because I was 8 at the time, and I guess seeing a bit much of a skin had too much effect on me.

Damn that's a running gag with my GF now.

Good point. However, my original post was intended to be a metaphor for a process analogous to "let's just drop all pretenses and stereotypes for a minute and admit we enjoy music that isn't guitar or testosterone rock". I really don't think a response requires defense of one's masculinity or expression of one's superiority over another as Manual Slim found necessary.

this is exactly why these posts rock , not every one is in the same moment this has nothing to do with anything but personal preffernce. I like some of the responces.

We're 5 pages in and nobody mentioned Coldplay?! So they became cool, or just nobody else is admitting to it? :)

And yet, a mention of a man card was asked about by someone else as well. This is all just silly. What’s a man card? What’s a real man? Goofy ideas to represent a caricature of manliness that nobody is taking seriously. This sort of cheek-tonguing always comes off better in speech than in type. Indeed, not everyone is in the same moment. Yeesh.

Is there any online course on masculinity we could all take? We could have a study sub-forum.
