Grill Cloth

Hi, Can anyone suggest anything that might serve as a good similar alternative to the VOX diamond grill cloth.

I am building a couple of small amplifiers form solid hardwood left over after making a couple of electric ukuleles. My initial preference for the grill cloth was the black VOX diamond style. However, interest in my amps is growing and I have found out that the VOX diamond cloth is owned and actively protected by them. I don't want to start using something that could land me in trouble so I am looking for something similar but not a direct copy.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Some of these can be too thick and heavy for guitar amps, so you might want first order a swatch.

If you can find some old organs for very little money many have decent grille cloth on the panels where the speakers are mounted. Most old solid state organs are obsolete and are landfill bound.

A family moving from their house gave me an old Baldwin solid state organ’s tone cabinet which had a long continuous sheet of grille cloth stretched around 3 of its’ sides. It was already stretched and worked well for several projects.

The color and styling may or may not work for you???

I see you want something Vox-like. What about the black on black diamond cloth? Less distinctive so less likely to attract a writ ?

If that's too Vox-like then looking for juke box specialists gets you funkier stuff with patterns - some of them DIamonds.
