'67 6120 Nashville and a sonic blue tele with Gretsch aspirations.
Sooooo...did you install the TV Jones yet??...and more importantly...would you do it again??? I'm in a similar boat. Thinking seriously about getting some TV Jones Classics for my G5120....but want to be happy I did it, especially in light of the fact that TV Jones pickups are not inexpensive.
I installed a TV Classic and Classic+ set in my 5570 and all I can say is WOW. It really opened up the whole guitar. Those pickups give all the warmth/jangle/grit/hifi/twang that a Gretsch should have.
1980 Gretsch Country Classic ll
Hi Gretsch players. I just bought this 1980 Gretsch Country Classic ll. And like to no more about it. The gent that i bought it off told me it is a usa made how can i find more info on it.I like to know can the pickup height be adjust on these or do tey come from the factory adjusted. and i guess they are filtertron pickups and they are stamped on the pickups us. So if you know anything about this guitar please let me no. Oh and how can i add a picture of my guitar on here or can someone do it for me. thank you
The "other" guy was Chris Pelonis, and they have a Super 17 MkIII and a Goodsell Dominatrix, sometimes A/B/Y and sometimes Jeff plays one or the other...
My main guit is a 5120 hotrodded with TV Jones Classics and Sperzel Locking Tuners.
Just got a nearly new silver jet with Filtertrons. I've had only limited time with it because of a crazy work schedule, but have noticed 2 things: 1) pushes my amps into a beautiful break-up 2) need to pin the bridge pronto and maybe follow that up quickly with a TruArc bridge to help with some intonation issues.
Pics coming soon!
My new toy
Gretsch Electromatic and accoutrements
Just got a used, but near mint, Korean made, black Gretsch G5120 Electromatic. Geez I'm digging this one.
Here's my G3900 Historic. 1999 made in Korea.
I'm back in the club. I had a double cut White Falcon that didn't do it for me, sold it and was a little disappointed in my Gretsch experience.
Then I picked up a Country Club (cadillac green) and it's exactly what I hoped for in a Gretsch guitar.
My G6136T-LTV W Falcon & G6128T-GC Duo Jet with TV Supertrons
My G5122DC in a very classy black finish.
Gold Pro Jet with Bigsby B7 and pickup rings. I need to make a new pickguard for it. The white pearloid it came with looks terrible with the other colors and would also sit too high with the rings. I will also eventually add controls to make it like a Duo-Jet.
Here's my 6120 SSLVO.
Since my post on page 5, I've gone through a couple of iterations... I sold that Club and picked up a blonde spruce Club , (left) which initially had been listed here on the classifieds at TDPRI...At the time it was listed here, it was out of reach but i passed that info onto someone else, who bought it, and then for some other acquisitions he wanted to do, later sold it to me (he gave me right of first refusal if he ever sold it, since i had tipped him off to it).
with a Bigsby and Seymour Duncan Custom shop Dynasonics, its a lovely piece!
I also picked up a rare Super Gretsch , right-- the pre FMIC Terada reissue of the Baldwin era Super Chet -- but I havent bonded with it. it s up for sale on TGP and i may list it here.
how do you like the Supertrons? If i keep the Super, i may put supertrons in it...
Here is my 2009 6136 LTV White Falcon with TV Jones Classic Pickups:
