More to come... Why would anyone want a turquoise amp?
... because someone paid you 500 bucks to take it?
My wife had one when we met.
Mine was purple.
A doorstop on wheels.
Pretty sturdy, in that what was left of it after potholes, winters, and bumps kept moving, roughly, forward....
Gremlin in the house... Not as much BF as I anticipated, I'l get it dialed in... KT66 out, Tung Sol 6V6GT in... much better.
Great amp. Congrats. I found that I liked the tweed channel with Humbuckers, and the blackface channel with singles. I haven't tried it with a 6v6 yet. BTW, did yours come with JJ ecc83s? Have you tried changing the preamp tubes?
Pictures? What color did you get?
Goes well with a surf green Strat!
OT is a cllassic tone 41-18031
PT classic tone 40-17425
Well, I was going to try to get a gut shot but, the chassis is seealed up tighter then a drum. I took the chassis out of the cabinet but, there is a cover screwed on to the chassis and all of the screwws are under foam tape... Tamper tape... I'll open it up after the warranty period has expired...
I'm searching for my favorite 12AX7 now... I think it got away in an amp I built and sold.
After seeing a pic of a Falcon Grande gut shot I believe the construction is similar...
Found em... got to lower the guitar volume and turn the amp up a bit...
"First of all, keep him out of the light, he hates bright light, especially sunlight, it'll kill him. Second, don't give him any water, not even to drink. But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget, no matter how much he cries, no matter how much he begs, never feed him after midnight."
I just put an old GE 12AX7 in V1... much better...
Looking at the tube and transformer layout, the signal path must be short... V1 is very close to the input and the power tube is near the OT.
The amp is dead quiet... must be using DC on the heaters. And while the Ironman is a great atenuator. It's not for me, the atenuator that is... I don't care for what is does to the tone. The amp has nice natural distortion. I haven't tried any pedals yet. Will do so this weekend.
I think this amp might be a good candidate for a Celestion Blue...
