    "Midnight Rider"

Well, I've got to run to keep from hidin',
And I'm bound to keep on ridin'.
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no,
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.

And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing,
And the road goes on forever,
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.

And I've gone by the point of caring,
Some old bed I'll soon be sharing,
And I've got one more silver dollar,

But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.

No, I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.

No, I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.

It's almost like they had a rule that to be in ABB you had to have epic levels of cool and soul...

Gregg was the coolest soul man ever. I'm so glad I lived during his time. RIP Brother...

May he rest in peace, I'm pretty sure he and Duane are riding choppers on the great highway in the sky.

I'm as stunned now as I was when Dwayne died. ABB tunes were integral to my life. RIP

I didn't want to believe it at first. His last record is worth a listen. ABB was a significant part of my musical identity growing up. Gregg had some soul, that cannot be denied. An incredible voice and talent. God Bless the Allmans.

    The music lives forever.

Dreams and the end of Whipping Post seem particularly poignant right now...

I'm an old punk guy, but I love the blues, and the Allman Brothers played the blues. So props to Greg and RIP.

Saw this a few minutes ago. Very sad. Those of us in that age group are definitely on the short list.
    RIP. Thanks for the music

Damn, that's some sad news indeed. I read he was in poor health recently and cancelled a tour, but it's very tragic to hear this. I was a big fan of the ABB from their first album on.

Saw them live around '70 in Milwaukee, WI. This was just after "The Allman Brothers Band" was released, and they just tore it up. Live at Fillmore East is a classic.

RIP Greg. Now you, Skydog, Barry, and Butch can jam in that big stage in the sky!

No other words for it. The times that were a changin', they are changin' again. I'm glad I lived when I did, I'd hate to have to somewhere out there in the distant future be pining for Justin Bieber when he goes, and say; Man, I just don't know why we lose all the good ones!

We really did live through some awesome times, times that meant something, people had something to say in their music, and it was all fresh. By now, just about everything musically that can be said about the human condition has been said. Now they'll write songs about how they fell in love while texting across the room. Or, " I knew it was love when I saw you roll in on your new Segway." Uh, that might need a little work right there from a good piano man.
