You are not the only one here with a nickel allergy. @EllenGtrGrl has posted about her allergy; she had stainless frets put on her guitar and uses cobalt strings as well from what I remember.

    Welcome.

Yep...about a mile from my house. Quite the Louisiana success story and it's great to know the beer is well received around the U.S.!

I'm assuming you're referring to the Abita Cafe. Yes, it's doing just fine and my wife and I both love their breakfast menu. Best biscuits I've ever experienced! Thursday evenings are still all-you-can-eat catfish, and it's a wonderful thing.

Interestingly enough, the nickel in fretwire has never been too much of a problem, it always seems to be the strings. I'm using the Ernie Ball SS and also the D'Angelico Electrozinc strings made by D'Addario. Still waiting on confirmation from D'Addario that they are nickel-free. Anecdotal stories from players online say they're great for nickel allergy players. I'm also going to switch the bridgeplate, saddles, control plate, and knobs to brass from Armadillo Guitars. Talk about a hypoallergenic Tele!!!:)

I have a teammate in Louisiana, but he is in the southwest section of the state (area code 337). I would assume you don't know him. :D

HI Fred, welcome to TDPRI. :)

Yes I do use Cobalt strings. Bronze strings on acoustic guitars are OK for me, but I had to change to Ernie Ball Cobalts out of necessity in 2014, due getting such bad dermatitis all over my body I looked like a burn victim (according to the dermatologist who did the patch test that showed my nickel & Chromium allergies [Chromium is used in stainless steel], my overactive immune system basically went bonkers). After looking through 100-200 product lines for electric guitar strings, Ernie Ball Cobalts and Rotosound Britsh Steels (which are made out steel), were the only electric guitar strings that met my requirements of being both nickel, and stainless steel free. I went with Ernie Ball Cobalts, due to them being available in more string gauges than Rotosounds. I did not opt for coated strings, due to the fact that once the coating starts to peel off, you're left with having to deal with the nickel strings under the coating.

Oh, and due to my crazy immune system, I have to get my guitars refretted with Jescar Evo Gold (it's not stainless steel( hypoallergenic fret wire.

Welcome to all the guys (new and not quite so new) in St. Tammany Parish!

Got a couple of my Lakeview neighbors moving across the Lake, over your way. I'd like to spend a decent amount of time in Louisiana but circumstances just don't allow. But I sure did enjoy the blackened snapper at Southern Pearl on Perkins in BR this evening. By all means, check it out (and the Royal Reds!)
