    Hello All,

My name is Niloy. I'm relatively new to the Tele world. I always grew up the vast majority of my guitar playing life thinking "Tele's don't have enough 'balls' for the application that I need." Wow, how wrong was I?! I've typically been a humbucker LP/PRS [even Ibanez and Schecter] type of player. But never a Tele. About three years ago, I finally played one for the first time. My buddy brought over his new one and plugged into my Mesa Rec, and holy sh*t, did it grunt with so much attitude and so much personality. I loved it! I went on the hunt for a Tele, and after much debate, I ended up getting a 2016 Am. Std. Tele Rosewood Neck (one of the Guitar Center exclusives). That neck finish has got to be one of the most playable necks I've ever laid my hands on.

Well fast forward to last weekend when I decided to switch my bridge pickup from a Broadcaster to a Rio Grande Greasegunner for some extra mid punch and perhaps a slight taming of the upper register. I love it! It's a lot less output than you'd think (Ceramic magnet, upper 8K DC resistance), but so much attitude and definition when you throw some dirt at it! Now I have to get a new neck pickup. The Twisted Tele, as much as I liked it before, is just wayyyyy too wimpy next to the Greasegunner when switching mid phrase on a lead run. So I'm thinking about a Rio Grande Dirty Harry Super Classic (if you don't know, think P-90) or a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder Tele Neck, which I'm sure needs no introduction. Would anyone like to share their opinions?

Anyhow, it's nice to join such an esteemed group of guitar players. I look forward to learning so much from you all, and I hope to contribute more than I take away from this forum. Enough of my rambling... here's a couple pics of my geetars. :)

Welcome! Love the sea foam green! One of my fav colors ;) About pickups - I have Fender Custom Shop vintage 52's in my Tele and I love em. But, this sort of topic is VERY subjective... it all depends on what sounds good to YOU, and what type of music YOU like and play... I myself play a lot of classic rock and a little country twang, so my CS pickups fit me well. Anyway, that's my 2 cents ;)

Welcome! You will find that TDPRI is (IMHO) the Wikipedia for real world information and advice that covers just about any subject a musician (or technician) might be interested in.

Thank you! I figured it's good etiquette to share a couple pictures on your first post!

I appreciate your kind words, good sir!

Thank you! I look forward to it! That LP Studio is one of the "Swirl" models in Black Silver. They made them right after the Nashville flood in 2011 and 2012. There were four color schemes, and they made 200 of each of the four.

    Thank you!!!

    I appreciate it!

Much appreciated! It's always good to acknowledge a fellow Texan! \\m// Hook 'em!

Thank you! And you're absolutely right about pickups being 100% subjective. I'm glad to read that your CSs are doing you justice! BTW, I bet that CS '52 plays like a gem! Congrats on that one!!

    Thanks!!

I can already see the copious amounts of data logged into the forum. It's both amazing and intimidating all at the same time. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Me too!! The oil rubbed finish lets you glide across the neck. It makes me wonder why they lacquer the necks at all anymore. What a difference!! And thank you!

I appreciate the kind words. I personally prefer the Les Paul "Rimburst" Silverbursts as opposed to the tear-drop shaped Silverbursts. Not everyone agrees with me, though. lol.
