Greatest Country Songs Ever Written

Goodness, I thought of another one.

"Don't Cry Joanie", by Conway Twitty and his daughter.

I don't know why, but that song hits me right in the heart.
My bandleader calls his wife up occasionally to sing it as a duet at gigs, and it makes my eyes leak.
Don't judge me because I'm getting soft in my slightly late middle age!
I work with a nurse that recently played that song for me-she sings it at local talent shows. It’s a tear-jerker for sure. Do you remember Dolly’s Jeannie’s Afraid of the Dark?

Fantastic thread. Pretty happy to see some Hardcore country turning up in here!

It's pretty hard to pick just one song (although anything by George Jones or Merle Haggard would be fine for anything called 'greatest').

I've picked up eighteen songs that I'd like to mention, and with that purpose in mind I've made groups for top 1 song, top 2 and so on:

- 1 -

If You've Got the Money - Lefty Frizzell
He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones
The Fighting Side of Me - Merle Haggard
I'm Moving On - Hank Snow
Hey Good lookin' - Hank Williams

- 2 -

Honky Tonk Heroes - Waylon Jennings
I'm the Only Hell - Johnny Paycheck
Family Tradition - Hank Williams Jr.
Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash

- 3 -

Love's Gonna Live Here - Buck Owens
Chiseled In Stone - Vern Gosdin
The Chair - George Strait
I Told You So - Randy Travis

- 4 -

She Did - Clinton Gregory
I'm Still Dancing with You - Wade Hayes
Who Needs Pictures? - Brad Paisley
I flew over our House last Night - Tom T. Hall
Don't Make Me Feel at Home - Wesley Dennis

There must be one or two songs I forgot...

Y'all have a good Friday! :
