Seems appropriate... for a serial killer's brain.

Lyrics don't concern me too much unless they are saying something that conflicts with my personal values. Sometimes, with vague, obscure lyrics, I don't have a clue what they're about. Maybe better not to know.

The music is first for me. I like songs for their melodies, hooks, chord progressions, or their musical instrument performances. The lyrics are secondary for me, though I regard the human voice as a musical instrument (some folks' more than others', mine? not so much), and as a key part of many songs I like.

I don't want to have to focus so much on the lyrics that I cannot appreciate the musical content. I really like a lot of Steely Dan's music, but often did not get their lyrics (I am a bit dense and slow on the uptake though). There are a great many others I feel the same way about. I just don't focus so much on the lyrics.

It's "ma belle" (French for "my beauty"), actually, and that stanza is literally about making some French words fit together so that his darling can understand him.

For give me if I misunderstood your post.

That's what I call a very far-fetch and pushed rime...

Kiss- Rock and roll and party every night sends out great messages to kids on how to be healthy.

I'm glad i was too busy surfing in my young years, no time for drink, drugs , just enough for recrecreation with a girl . All good and healthy.

    Since you're quoting it, you're forgiven. :p

As a Canadian this may land me in trouble... but I'd say the vast majority of RUSH songs...

Not all...Neil has produced some very good lyrics, but for the most part they just seem silly to me. The music under (and sometimes over) those lyrics is usually quite interesting.

    "Oooooooo
    Yes, it's true
I'm so happy to be stuck with you"

Would've been better: "I'm so happy to be stuck to you"

Amendment- that Kiss song is not what I would rate as great music. I misread the poster's total title. My apologies.

over analyzing lyrics to rock songs and all popular music...is senseless in my opinion. Of course there are moments of genius but in the end, does it really matter. It's usually all just about rhythm and rhyme.

Well it's not really Paul's fault that he isn't Joni Mitchell.

I owned that book - The GOD OF Rock was the name of it. My parents made me go to an event that the author put on at one of the local churches. They then proceeded to trash my record collection when we got home! Do you remember what he wrote about Boston? He rated them with a V for violence because their debut album showed a spaceship attempting to destroy the earth!
