I like how you all skip over the fact that his acoustic is a custom shop martin. I also wonder if he gets Joe Glaser to set up his squiers.

I don't know about $150 guitars, But my experience has been that Squier and Epiphone guitars in the $200 and up range are extremely consistent in quality and may require some tweaking of action and intonation, but many of them come from the factory setup better than some more expensive Fender and Gibson instruments.

...a Custom Shop Martin made for someone else that was bought as a recent CS with a nice cost reduction...
It’s just like new cars - drive it off the lot - and instant 12%
loss. It’s the warriors who laugh off buyers remorse that reap the long term benefits. But it takes time just like the bond market.

I believe he said, he had done exactly that.

I'm most open to persuasion, when a player demonstrates so effortlessly how well he can get around on a guitar, and then he's open to the advantages of guitars from any part of the cost continuum. He's got me eating out of his hand - I'm ready to accept anything he says by 10 minutes into the video.

That's always been step one for me with any guitar. I'm not comparing myself to JP, but that's the acid test before ever plugging in.

I remember a couple of years ago they had the televised tribute to Gregg Allman - a lot of stars and guitar players - Jack (and his Squier) was the best musician on the stage that night.

Love his playing and laid back style. I could spend weeks talking his ear off about guitars, bands, other players etc and stealing his licks.:)
