Hey guys! I've been compiling a list of great guitarists you may not have heard of, or who are under-appreciated outside of their genre specific circle. (Part 1 of which can be found here http://guitarsampspedals.wordpress.com/2014/11/06/great-guitarists-you-may-not-have-heard-of/ )

In the spirit of expanding our knowledge and appreciation of guitarists who are not as renowned as they should be I'd like to bring your attention to this Tele wielding Funk-Meister - Derwin 'Big D' Perkins

So, who do you reckon should get more coverage than they do?

This guy's been around for a few decades now and doesn't get the notoriety I think he should... great blues style but has done everything from pop rock to swing to jazz and everything in between at one time or another. I've seen him live a few times and met him backstage once and he seems like a decent down to earth guy.

This guy Petri Walli has always been one of my favorite guitarists, the whole band is really good actually. Definitely worth checking out if you like the songs they play in this video.

Ahh some truly great musicians, thank you all for sharing.
JeffK if you like Gomm and Leeb you might like Mike Dawes if you haven't listened to him before.

Jim Thomas, of the Mermen. He's shuns flash, but he's brilliant. And his rig is epic:

Now that's cool! I've known Jim and Alan (bass player) for a long time. Alan recently did a tour with Joe Satriani. Great band, great players, great guys. Nice to see Jim mentioned.

Would love to see the Mermen but I'm on the east coast. A friend who use to live in San Fran turned me on to them and makes me jealous with stories of how they packed the clubs there. Do they still perform much? Love the drummer too.

    Robert Quine
    Bill Kirchen
