Installed in a G&L Tribute ASAT Classic

Ordered:

BOURBON: Custom "Strat like" tone, #1 selling telecaster neck pickup. I got mine without a cover and it is stratty. Has plenty of treble and that strat bell tone. It's wound around 6.5K I think. Bobbin sits flush with pickguard using the old foam block. Alnico 5 I think. I just let Ken pick out the parts to make a strat-like neck pickup,

ALBA: Overwound, Overdrive, Some Twang, Classic Rock I don't think this was the right choice, it's a tad midrangy on the bottom strings. Still has the twangy top end though. Wound to 11.1 K on Alnico 3 magnets. Ken said the A3 would be a bit clearer than A5. I think something around 9K would have been just right. Still, this has a full fat bottom and nice clear twangy top end. It just doesn't have the snap on the bass strings.

Output wise, these are still less output than my G&L Fallout's neck P90 and bridge Dimarzio Bluesbucker. They do seem balanced with each other though and sound great combined.

If you have brass saddles, I'd try replacing the one(s) for the lower E and A with steel or aluminum to get that snap.

Rose pickups are great - Ken has high quality pickups at GREAT prices - and he will custom wind them for you. I have two builds I used Rose pups on, a Les Paul I put Rose Black Velvets (HB sized P90s) in and a Start build I outfitted with a Robusta/Robusta/Buff Beauty mixed set - both sets wound on the hotter side. I have just started a Mustang Build, and Ken is currently working on a set of Mustang Pups (not a pickup they regularly make) for it.

I have been itching to get a tele w the Rose Albas - I have heard great things about them!

He's so backlogged, he's not taking new orders for a while
Glad I got my Robusta/Robusta/Buff Beauty strat set a few months ago. Had them delivered 7 days after ordering. Really great pickups. Hand wound set for $67 is just ridiculous!

That neck pickup is something else, really snappy and stratty. Would be perfect if it was in same postion as a strat neck pickup, the tele position doesn't do the same harmonics.

I ordered a "Westerlands" bridge pickup off Ken years ago, and he threw in a "B" stock Westerlands neck pickup for free! They really nail vintage Tele tone in my Squier Standard. Excellent pickups and first rate customer service!

I have Rose Bourbon and Alba in my hand built Tele-clone. Best handwound value. Then I bought a set for my son's Strat and they sound superb too!
Speaking of Strat pickups, Ya gotta hear the Rose Belles from Rose..They are so smooth and well balanced with great definition ..

Anyone compared rose freedom 90s to porter t90s?
I have an alba bridge and bourbon neck and like both of them quite a bit.

I have a Robusta A5 neck and a Buff A2 bridge strat pickups and they don't disappoint at all. I think I might love the neck pup even more than the bridge one. I'm sure I'll return to Rose for more pickups.

I got Ken to help me decide years past on which magnet for a P90 bridge, I then ordered and
asked him to wind to with 8.2 - 8.3 K resistance. His build was right at 8.25K.
