I am still stuck on "they only made 5". We know #5 has been out of the box and is used, and probably not discounted.

I must not be the demographic. No way would I pay that much for a 5E3 that could be custom made at a high end shop for less than half that much.

You would really have to want a piece of the Hollywood bowl. I don't, and don't care.

Things better to build a combo out of:

    1. An actual pool table from the bar scene in Terminator 2, complete with a plate that says "I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle"

    2. Wood from the set of a pirate's of the Caribbean movie, complete with Disney level markup

    3. Floorboards from a rundown juke from within 7 miles of the Mississippi River.

    4. Wood from the gymnasium floor upon which the Smells like teen spirit was filmed.

    And

    5. Seats from any "historic " venue ever to be renovated.

    Why?
Because none of those will look like they belong next to a sign that says "firewood $25".

But, it’s made from an old chair! What more do you want?

I like all of that, but none of those options conveys the "I'm rich, but I'm embarrassed by my riches, so I want to look poor" vibe of the amp on Sweetwater. What is a wealthy trustafarian going to do with things that carry actual cultural content? "If you can fake sincerity, you've got it made." Etc.

As a compliment to the amp next they should make a guitar from the toilet seat of the dressing room at Hollywood Bowl and market it as 'using woods saturated with the pee of 1000's of performers...maybe even the Beatles'.

    The "Hollywood Toilet Bowl" Tele.

That would make a great album title. Maybe by a Beach Boys cover band.

Yeeeeeesh, my Sweetwater line of credit won’t even cover the cost if I wanted it.

I’d be very happy to own an Allen Amplification hand wired amp over this for less than $2k..

I like that it's a Deluxe, and the Hollywood Bowl connection is pretty cool. But, the price is not.

Why so touchy ... I'm sure there are 5 people in this world that is going to get great joy of out this amp.

Also .. I like how it looks ... Remove the Fender badge and noone will know that you've showed up with a 8k amp :)

(I've always toyed with the idea of ordering a custom shop strat with a squier decal)

And it's not even a real classic...
We stopped burning pine back in 1966.
The only way your wood shop project stood out was to give it a real finish.

"cabinet fashioned from century-old Alaskan yellow cedar reclaimed from actual Hollywood Bowl bench seats,"

What? For that kind of money I'd expect certified tonewood!

My main beef with it aside from the price, is the cut ends, they look horrible and there are ways to craft those ends in a way that it doesn't look like they were just cut off right there.(which they were)

I was going to take the amp out of a big, old, heavy combo & build a cabinet for it.
I don't think I'll bother now, if that's the best that Fender can do.

Yeah but that's worth $800 tops if you compare it to other 5E3 clones out there. A grand for the chassis and speaker, and negative $200 for the cabinet.
