Anyone ever owned a Gorilla GG-20 guitar amp? They were all made in '87 and my uncle gave me one.
Ahh the gorilla. Great for playing those monkees covers
Great for Ape-ing those Monkees tones more like!
I did have one given to me around 1995 by an uncle. I cant remember much about the sound. It made its way to a friends attic one day where it possibly still rests to this day.
It must be one of the top 5 "I got it from my uncle amps" of all time though
If you like that really annoying, nasty distortion that Prince used a lot...then you'll like the Gorilla.
Had one like this way back before they actually made good sounding mini amps. They were cheap and built to stay that way.
I believe I got one for Christmas around that time frame. Think it was my first amp...
I had the GG-60. First amp I bought myself. It had enough watts of power to play pretty much anywhere I needed, it could get extremely loud, and it had reverb, all for less than $100 new when I bought it.
Could not get a pleasant sound out of that amp no matter how I set it. The best tone was with the Tube Stack switch on it did a reasonable high gain.
These guys are heavy and perfectly suited for jazz. I found a 60 on the side of the road.
That model makes it into the "worst amp" threads. It ranks dead even with those little wooden Crate amps for horrid tone. I've owned both in the distant past.
I have actually slaved a gorilla into a wooden crate cr-ii. Best sound I got out of the gorilla for sure
Well, whatever it takes.
