I too have used the 1/1/xx birthday approach for most services that require a birthdate. Birthday is one of the most frequently used pieces of personal ID, so why give it out unnecessarily?

Of course, I don’t provide any birthdate if not required anyway. And that’s why no one ever wishes me a happy birthday on flakebook.

It's like the occasional question from cashiers at retail places: "What's your phone number?"

I always answer "[area code] 867-5309." Most young people dutifully poke the number in. On the few occasions when I get That Look of recognition from the cashier (they get the joke), I add, "Jenny."

I have a number of birthdays set up with companies that would like it. It's as accurate as anything else I tell them about myself.

Got it today also. There's a substitute date floating around out there but I forgot what it was so backed-out.

I never enter a real birthday nor use my real name. But I do email myself the info each time I set up an account so I can call it up if they ever need any of it for verification. The year might change but I was always born on January 1st.

    F**K google.
I'm more annoyed by paypal asking me for my annual income every time I log in.

Assuming the tdpri profile isn’t a lie.

I always lie about these things. I take joy out of poisoning data sets.

I have been getting the same thing.

Do they really suspend your accounts if you don't provide a birth date??

There probably is some weird law about minors, but if you make up a date you may possibly need to write it down in case they make you go through some stupid security question.

Duck Duck Go is the browser we should all use. They don’t keep your info. They don’t use your info. They don’t sell your info.
Doesn’t help your issue but good info for all.
    Don’t give out info.
PS You ever notice how you turn location off and they still know to bring up businesses in your area when looking? They don’t need it.

Like many of you I get offers from restaurants every Janaury. I use 01/01/1960, it's within a few years, so I should get age appropriate communications/offers, but gives away no important data. My local Italian gives me a free bottle of wine and dessert each year when I book a table for two or more each January.

I'd have a hard time giving out that number without singing it, and then the gig would be over.
