Mr. Mailman dropped off this little amp on the porch today. It's a Jay Turser 'Classic' 10 watt that I found online for $100. It has a few minor cosmetic 'issues', but is otherwise reasonably decent. The wooden face/grill appears to be oak, but I'm not sure of that.

I've been halfway after one of these for quite a while, just based on their unique appearance. There was also a larger version of this amp, I think a 25 watt if I recall correctly, and will also be keeping an eye out for one of them.

Cute, but yeah, "what does it sound like?"
(and if you say "woody", you're on probation...)

Nice. I'd buy that just for the look (within reason).

Don't know yet. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I don't expect much, so it's probably better than I think it might be.

What does it have in it? What is under the hood? I say oak also.

You know, I’ve got a little Pignose from the 80s that has its own cool look going on. I love what it offers. If you can meet this one half way, you may be in luck.
    Pretty little bugger, ain’t she?

    Well! Lookee here!

In perusing the interwebs this morning, I found the larger, 25 watt version of the Jay Turser Classic amp at a Guitar Center in Tallahassee for $150.

It too, is now on the way to western South Dakota to add to my growing little collection of oddball guitar amplifiers.

    I want a Pignose!

    Honestly!
I seem to getting a cool selection of cheap, small-gig worthy small amps, and I remember a few buddies in the late 1970's having Pignoses.
( I know the Pig may be too small for gigs, but I do some quiet band gigs that still rock- great drummers, who just bring a snare or cajon and a hi-hat)

No rush ( I bought 3 little amps last year), but maybe up the road.

The wood/tweed smaller Jay Turser looks cool- hope it sounds good!

Cool look. Never heard of the company. Is it solid state?

I would imagine they sound pretty good. I would guess a circuit similar to a Fender Bronco solid state amp.

I mean for $100 that chassis and cabinet might be easily converted to a 5F1 if one was so inclined.

Also I see on the larger on that it has a Celestion speaker.

The shop has now moved, but a local guitar shop I used to go to for years in the late '90's ( that could not carry Gibson or Fender stuff) carried lines of other popular guitars ( G&L, PRS, Heritsge, Hamer) and Jay Turser electric guitars.

The Tursers were ( are) budget/import interpretations close copies of a lot of Fender, Gibson, Gretsch solid, semi, hollowbodies- good values. I remember picking up an SG and 335 styles a few times.

Don't think there were any Jay Turser amps then, yet.

I wasn't aware of it before I bought that little 10 watt Turser amp, but apparently it also has built-in rechargable batteries to run it cordless if you'd want to. That's kind of a nice feature.
