Nope, the online dealer had a number (five or so) of them EX or above condition. I just chose the best example they had and bought it. It wasn't a rare lens, just one I wanted. The only way the seller could have had me over a barrel was if I needed it that day. I generally prefer handling something like a lens before putting out cash, but I've had very good luck online. So far. :D

When I see a Gibson, Fender or ESP on Craigslist that actually turns out to NOT be an Epi, Squier or LTD, I'm just shocked.

And a $600 asking price for a guitar that sells for less than $200 brand new!

90 percent of the ads on craigslist are unrealistic for anyone who knows how to shop and knows what they are buying. But there are deals to be had.

You get a lot of ....just bought this guitar for 600 dollars, I want 550 firm and no scammers or low ballers... If all I am savingis 50 bucks, I am going to go buy it new at the store.

Just completed a transaction for a 100w Bass amp on CL. Like the other 25+ deals I've done on CL, it went off just fine. Nice guy. Good deal on amp.

If you ask a reasonable price, and are prepared to make a reasonable offer, and ignore (the incredibly obvious) spam scams, CL is a godsend. IMHO, of course.

I love people who hate CL. It means more deals for me.

I also love those guys who'll mod the hell out of an $800 guitar, put in $400 worth of "upgrades" and then think they should get $1200 for it now.

yeah those folks don't seem to grasp that the mods only matter to them and that, even if the buyer wants the mods, they aren't paying full whack for them when buying the guitar used.

    To the OP:

I agree with your stance -- when they have the cash, we make the sale. First come, first served. I had a guy do the same thing with a guitar with me once. I told him that it's Craigslist, I've been burned before and won't be burned again. He got pretty upset. Ahh well.

Perhaps, but I have found with patience I allways get my price.
Now I am fair, (and know my stuff) but I do price silghtly above the bay, etc. I expect a slight preimum for getting it "right now", seeing it, picking my brain, not having to return it etc.
As soon as someone starts with "I can get one.." I politely suggest they buy it, and I move on the the next potential.
    A basic Win Win.
