They took a hint from Ibanez Series 10 pedals. They didn't lock together and the power connectors were not connected, but the jacks were on top and they were placed next to each other on the pedalboard that they offered.

I think the concept of them linking together is great, but I think the shape of the pedal is quite silly, borderline stupid and impractical, being totally honest here. Just shape the pedal like the standard box but allow it to latch together magnetically or by other means.

Not French myself. But this coming from folks across the pond is a bit unfair.

Off the top of my head. Citroen DS and 2CV? Airbus? Dasault? Nuclear energy/Areva (build and run)? Ski and raquets? TGV/Alstom (build and run)? Focal audio? Vigier guitars?

And they have managed to keep lots if industrial production in-country, similar to Germany, with whom they compete.

    ... and they can cook.

    Not too shabby.

I guess Traction might not be an exemple of bright engineering.

I feel like there's a more elegant way to design this. I think they took the "puzzle" too literally. It's like when I asked one of my devs to put an easter egg into our software that would show out teams names, and he added a literal image of an easter egg that you could click on.

I actually think it's a pretty good idea, as long as:

    a) the pedals sound good
    b) the pedals are pretty wide so your foot only hits one switch at a time, and
    c) you don't have big feet.

Did I miss something? Are patch cables so big a problem that this is the answer?

This has been done since the 1970s, and it has caused the death of many (many) pedals.

These evil little gadgets are available as straight connectors to link pedals of the same model format, and as a 'crank' style that allows linking different pedals whose jacks don't line up.

The reason these are idiotic is because they are solid; they create an inflexible mechanical connection from one jack to the other. In use, pedals flex when stomped on--even when they're solidly mounted or screwed to a pedalboard. This repeated flexure causes the pedals' jacks and their electrical connections to slowly disassemble themselves in a destructive manner.

These things are especially toxic to devices that have their jacks soldered directly to the PC board with no mechanical connection to the pedal case.

If you have these things in your gear collection, do yourself a favor: visit the Grand Canyon and throw them in. They'll still be falling by the time you arrive back home.

Or gift them to a guitar player you really hate.

Or use them as seed material for your very own Museum of Really Stupid Ideas.

DUHHHH!! Didn’t think of that. Thanks! And the patch cables flex to obviate those rigid stresses.
But in this product, then, how long until similar types of stress create laxity in those puzzle links and then interfere with the integrity of the connections?
You’ve just explained why I have what I have.
I set up with EBS flat patch cables which, for me, made it easier.
    Thanks!
