I know most of you don’t know of him or about his guitar building skills. Gerard Melancon owner of Melancon Guitars passed away late last week. Great person, phenomenal guitar player and made some truly great instruments. I have known him for over 40 years, but could not afford his guitars.

Can’t say I am, but he was a truly religious person, and spoke about his fate if you wanted to listen. Never pushed it on me. He is gone way too soon.

Video of him speaking and playing below. His playing starts at the 4:40 mark if you are uncomfortable with his words.

I’m sorry to hear of his passing.
About ten years ago, I took a Melancon Tele style in trade on a guitar I had consigned at a local shop.
While I did not bond with it because of it’s somewhat smaller neck than I prefer, my friend Brett fell in love with it.
It’s still his main squeeze, and it goes to all his gigs.
    Thanks, and RIP, sir.

My kind of fella. Nice looking instruments and he's no doubt walking with the Lord. Amen

I have not heard of this mans fine work before this. He surely was a great craftsman.
Very inspiring. Sorry to hear we lost him.

Didn't know him, but thanks for sharing that video, his sense of purpose was very refreshing to hear.

First I've heard of him, but sorry to hear of his passing.

I am a believer that he has gone on to something so Devine, that death is actually the greatest mystery AND blessing of life... but the vast majority of us just don't know it yet.

I have no doubt that his faith has helped usher him directly into the arms of his Lord.
