    How about these guys:

I saw them a couple of years ago at Wolftrap opening for St. Paul and the Broken Bones:

I went with a friend after he broke up with his long time GF. So I got a free ticket for the cost of a few beers. I really didn't know either band and while I enjoyed Shovels and Ropes, I was BLOWN AWAY by St. Paul and the Broken Bones. My god, what an amazing band and great singer.

I’ve seen St Paul live a couple of times. They’re good, but really derivative. Might as well call themselves an Al Green tribute. In that vein, I’m a little more fond of Anderson East.

Yes. Incredible. But they are not country. They are R&B/soul. Paul Janeway grew up singing southern gospel.

Regardless. If anyone on this thread has not seen them live, do yourself a treat and prepare to be blown away. They are the REAL DEAL.
