I though of getting involved in making a firebird.

I got a set up Firebird template plans from Guitar Plans Unlimited a while ago.

I haven't started the build yet. I still have a bunch of details to iron out with the customer first.

    Down??

Hmmm... sorry - I should have checked the website first.

By what he has posted on his homepage, it sounds like it won't be down for much longer.

Amazon has 2/3rd blueprints for $8.

What about an Explorer? Got that if you need.

Are there any blueprints i could download and print myself?

I could still pay for it, but I wouldn't need to ship something large all the way from the US.

    Steinberger gearless tuners?

But then I think they look pretty cool in a Tele-style headstock, especially a reversed one.

Yes - build two and sell one. To me. :)

Looking forward to a build thread on this one. They're really cool guitars with some serious retro vibe.

I got some plans for a firebird studio from ebay. Am in the process of making a set of templates for this build. Templates are also available on ebay.

So are you going to build it like a replica, I.E. neck through with laminated/raised center section? I was considering one of those, got a little dicey in my brain thinking the neck angle and adjusting the wings to the angle for the TOM bridge. I think I have a handle on what has to be done, but might be a bit much for my first scratch build to say the least. Good luck with it, would like to see the result if you do build one. They're cool guitars though really like the way they sound and look.

    Regards,

    Don

That's sweet, did you build it? I always thought the Firebirds were kinda large.
