hey guys, i'm spending a weekend in nashville. what's there to do?
Recent TDPRI Thread:
Stroll around downtown , on Broadway, 2nd Ave. Then check out the Ryman, and stop in at Gruhns Guitar shop......just soak it all in....Can't help you much on the nightlife, cept maybe stop in at Tootsies for a beer and check out the local characters....Take your time and enjoy.
You might want to stop by the Bluebird Cafe. Just for memento sake.
Check out JD Simo with the Don Kelley Band at Roberts. He's a MUST see. If Guthrie Trapp is in town, he's another MUST see. He was playing with The Travis Mann Band when I was there a few weeks ago.

and some of us LOCAL guys CAN HELP WITH THE NIGHTLIFE feel free to contact me and ill get you more details on where to go.
It's at the Hyatt Place Hotel down in Brentwood. Go to www.nashvilleampexpo.com for details. Sounds like a good time!
If you like bluegrass, don't miss the Station Inn. The Time Jumpers play great western swing on Monday nights. We were in Nashville eight or so years ago and went to the Station Inn every night for several nights running.
Be sure to make the Bluebird Cafe for (intimate size club music) and eat at the Stockyards
thanks for the advice! i planned on seeing the don kelly band. it would be great to see guthrie as well. i caught him with jerry douglas when they bb king's. he can tear up a guitar. gotta go to gruhn. look at stuff i can't afford. the guitar show looks cool as well. so much to do...
I would go to the Gibson factory!!
I know they dont make teles but they still make very good guitars!
+1 on this... we were in NashVegas a couple of weeks ago, playing tourista. Caught the Time Jumpers, who are fantastic. Reba McEntire showed up with her parents to listen in, and the band got her up to close the first set by singing Rose of San Antonio. SA-WEET! My wife was beside herself... Reba did the meet'n'greet with folks on the set break, and was most gracious.
I cannot guarantee any particular country star sightings, but you just never know... right place, right time.
Another good western swing outfit is Monte Good and the Honky-Tonk Heroes... they play both The Wheel, and Robert's Western World on Broadway. Ace pickers in that outfit too.
Time Jumpers...ya' gotta see Paul Franklin on steel. He will make you wish you had chosen to learn Pedal Steel instead of a six string.
Time Jumpers +1
I've only seen video. If I was in Nashville I would absolutely not miss them live.
+1 on Gruhn Guitar's on Broadway.... you will get mesmorized in there. Check out "The Players" at 3rd and Lindsley if they are playing...best session musician around, including Brent Mason as lead guitars and singer... It flat doesn't get any better than that.
+1 on Bluebird as well...try to see Gary Burr live.
Sorry for all the posts....On The Time Machine, is Paul Franklin not playing with "The Players" any longer?
