Song I wrote for my best friend and his wife, years ago. She is no longer with us, so she never got to hear it.
It came pretty fast and I don't think I even wrote it down for years. Just stuck in my head and I'd play it from time to time.
Used BIAB for everything but the main guitar riff (and quick outro) and vocals. I think it's a fun song.

    I like it.
Good use of the songwriting craft.

    A nice blend of pop/folk/country.

I could hear this song on the radio or Youtube somewhere.

Get a pro band to cover the song and record it!

It totally reminds me of this song:

    Thank you!
As it happens, "Garden Party" is one of my all-time favorite songs.

    Howdy Mark....

Sounds like you had some fun with this one.
Yep....it's a peppy, up beat style and the arrangement isn't too busy.
BIAB has many of those to choose from.

I agree with studio that it has the 'pop/folk/country' vibe.
I like your bridge at 1:50....its surprised me, in a good way. :)
    The arrangement works.
Even though it's not my genre I'd say this is a good song.

I do think things could be added to make it a more complete song but that's just my subjective observation....not a criticism.

    Carry on.....

    Thanks, Chulaviet, I appreciate that.
You're the first person to comment on the bridge. A "good surprise" is what I was after.

Yes, I'm at the BIAB forums now too. The "User's Showcase" is very active.

I think of all these things I'm posting as demos, not finished products.
This one gives a very good idea of 'how the song goes.' A real producer and engineer could make it much livelier, I'm sure. My hope is to get things to the stage where a pro singer / band wants to record one of my songs and release it.

    You're welcome....
Ha...I don't expect to hear a 'bridge' in a country tune but country isn't my genre of choice or writing style.
    Maybe I'm behind times.

    Good luck with your goals.

I'm 40 years behind the times when it comes to country music. ;o)
I'm a big fan of The Band and a lot of what I do seems to me like what we now call "Americana", a mix of folk, blues, rock, country, soul and gospel. That and singer-songwriter stuff (Dylan, Cohen, Cash, Tom T Hall, Joe Ely, Willie Nelson...)

Americana is probably a good way to explain it eh? Seems like a word that is getting used more lately.

The guitar is clean with a bit of sparkly that sounds pretty darned decent to my ears.

Thanks. It is a clean sound. That's my default. I have a lot more FX I could use but this is where I tend to start, and sometimes I just stick with it. For one big thing (-for me) I want the drums and bass to sound good and when the guitar is clean, that clears a lot of space for them.

i totally agree. i lean towards a lot of clean electric playing. although sometimes i like it just a bit overdriven.
