Well yeah, that gives you some idea of the kind of personal sacrifice he made in fixing that pole!

In Maine we call it "Buxton chrome".
Buxton isn't so much about poverty as about the wealth of making do living off the land.
Poor for sure by city standards!
But them city folks want to come up to camp out shoot deer and fly fish, so it seems there's sumpthin to like about redneck livin'!

Reuse is the highest level of recycling, and recycling (of the lowest order) was invented by rich city folk.
Repurposing is even higher though, and back woods farmers may drive a tractor made of half a Chevelle and the rest unidentified scrap.

A common pickup line might be "I like the cut of your duct tape".
Pickup in a bar not in a truck of course, or who knows?

While city girls look for a man with a big corporate job, up here the girls look for a man with a big smokehouse.
So nice smooth duct tape fender patches are a sign of a man with a good set of hands, who aint afraid to use 'em...

I once did that with a very old apple tree that I was trying to save . It failed , but it sure did give people something to talk about . Fortunately , I had the foresight to cut scions from it and have them budded to rootstock . When I felled the tree , it was completely hollow . I kept looking for the Keebler Elves to come running out of it .

Pre duct tape and using pipe props to help her stand .

I’m happy to cut Bakersfield a lot of slack for the great music it’s given us!

Now the real question will be, "How long does it stay that way?"
