It was a little stuck in, and I had to jolt it a bit to break the seal. Do you think this is just some lacquer that got in there around the edge during production or does Fender sometimes use a little glue? Has anyone else experienced this?

No Fender doesn't glue this joint. Could simply be hurried assembly, without cleaning the parts throughly, before assembly.

It's a little oversprayed lacquer. No big deal.

That is where they get Mojo dust. If you scrape it off and make into a fine powder it will enhance your playing. :)

Seriously, it is lacquer that had not totally cured before they put the guitar together whether from the neck or the body.

It is the same finish as the rest of the body. Fender sprays this area to cover the sharp edge of the pocket so the bare wood wont show after the neck is mounted. 100% normal.
