Yea, these days I wish I wasted less time with girls and spent time learning music.
Looking back. I spent a lot of time playing guitar, drinking beer and chasing skirts.
Other than that I wasted a lot of time.
I devoted most of my time to learning the craft back then. In hindsight, that was the right thing to do. Later on, life got in the way.
Me on bass, back in the early days at a gig....
I spent a good deal of my growing up years going over pip's mountain just to see what was on the other side.
I drank a lot of beer, smoked a lot of weed and did whole lot of other neat stuff I seem have no recollection of myself but my old friends tell me I was good at it and had fun doing it.
Beer. Music. Girls. Books. Friends. The only time I ever wasted was at work.
Social skills are definitely changing. I see less and less face to face interaction and more manipulating of the smart phones. We take comfy shuttles back and forth from work to our parking facility, 11 minutes each way. Before, the noise of people yapping with each other could be deafening. Now it is quiet with everyone looking down at their smart devices.
Same thing in the cafeteria, on the outdoor benches and sitting areas. I even have to make rules for myself to not use one in certain situations. Mostly so I do not ignore the people I am with or show disrespect.
Growing up it was guitars and girls...usually in someone's basement.
It's wired seeing a group of kids next to each other texting instead of talking, but that's the world now I guess.
Definitely should have played more back in the day. I was way too focused on drugs and women.
Yeah, beer, music, sports, girls, motorcycles and more girls. I wish I'd taken advantage of my guitar lessons and really studied hard. At least I still know how to have a face to face with someone.
May 1961 Las Vegas Nev. We were not that hot yet I suppose, sure had a great time however.
June 2014 Redondo Beach Ca. We were not that hot here either, sure had a great time however.
BTW Hoss is the dude on the left, who are all these fat people in the second photo?
Those are very cool photos. I have a buddy of mine in San Diego with the same timeline photos of his band. Awesome.......back to the thread...sorry.
But you cant drive a car while playing a guitar.
No one has ever been on death bed and said 'I wish I spent more time at work'
Is the implication supposed to be that people no longer do things like picture A? Because that's simply not true.
The "get off my lawn" crowd is getting a bit tiresome.
i have no regrets, i lived it up.. had a bunch of fun.. enjoyed life to the fullest.. now at 40 i am on my death bed.. play hard die young as the saying goes. rock on.. get out side and have some fun kids..
More than that, I think the implication is that there was a time when NO ONE behaved as in picture B, and even though there are some instances of activities as in picture A they are fewer because of activities in picture B.
The "never mowed a lawn" crowd can be a pretty tedious bunch as well...
Most people I know use their phones to organise social events frequently.. Facebook too.
I stand by my previous post.
Said no guy ever...
