Yeah, I wasn't really wondering, just commenting on the fact that all the others listed were basically 60s, 70s....maybe 80s. You know, TDPRI John stuff: 'The music I listened to in high school is the best music ever made. Hands down. Nothing of value has happened since.'

I think that for the true music fan, this is simply just a part of the human condition.
Being aware of it and expanding on that base comes with maturity of taste.

Beyond that, there are some good suggestions here. Some unfamiliar stuff I am inspired to check out too.
And some stuff that would make me take a hammer to the turntable.
(I have a related story I won't bore ya'll with right now)

But in the end, my opinion or taste doesn't carry enough weight for a simple fishin' lure.
Subjective.
And I am OK with that.

I'd probably call none of them 'perfect,' but there are multiple CAKE albums that I consider "very solid" where I like probably 75-80% of the album. They had a good run from 1994 to 2001.

Motorcade of Generosity ('94)
Fashion Nugget ('96)
Prolonging the Magic ('98)
Comfort Eagle ('01)

A little less well-known, how about some 70s British powerpop with a retrofuturistic twist?

Yup, the whole catalogue is essential listening, first is a bit spotty, but quite a ride from there.
