... PARTNERSHIP WITH UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING CHINA

Gibson has announced a “full-scale” partnership with Universal Music Publishing Group China (UMPG) that will see the guitar giant support the Asian nation’s domestic music industry. The partnership also extends to Hong Kong.

Gibson will be offering “tailor-made support” to artists, songwriters and producers based in China, starting this year with support for UMPG’s songwriting camps and artist events.

Gibson has also outfitted Universal Music Publishing’s (UMP) professional recording studios in Beijing and Shanghai. Additionally, Gibson and Universal will be collaborating on marketing and social media to host joint promotional social campaigns and artist content launches both regionally and globally.

Well... I am afraid we're just seeing the beginning of the end ... First Mesa Boogie, now this! I hope I'm wrong. I really hope so.

Well .. it worries me a little when a company ties up significant resources in other fields of business but not in their core business. Gibson in particular had a lot to offer in this regard in the past.

There's 2 billion people over there. Sounds like as good a business decision as any. They make all the Epiphones over there already. This can't hurt their instrument sales.

Newsbreak, Gibson does in 2021 what most global brands did decades earlier.

The Bad Dog has quite an offering of things this morning. At least this one is easy to leave. I unfortunately found out that people in Canada are drinking alcohol with mummified human toes floating in it.

You can not get any Gibson guitars right now. I think nobody knows what is the problem, but the stores are empty.
And they will expend to China?

It’s hard to find anything. I’m having to wait weeks to months for parts critical to repairing refrigeration equipment. US made PRS and Gibsons a shipment will hit a distributor and they’re gobbled up quick. It’s just the way of the world.

Youtube gear news is just hot garbage. "Well, I have to talk about SOMETHING for 30 minutes every day so....

    Is Guitar cEnter DOOMED?!?!(Not really)

What Leo Fender did wrong :eek::eek: (Guitars became collectable)

Best pedal ever??!!!1!! (Paid link in description)"

    And so on.

I wonder if Gibson sees this as a door to open that could help solve their "parts" problem. Gibson's are pretty scarce right now because their supply chain from China, etc. where they're dependent for electronics, plastic parts etc. is in a pretty bad way. "We'll help you hoping you'll help us"?

I would imagine that it's just a matter of time before "Gibson" branded guitars are manufactured in China (and I don't mean the Chibson fakeries). Maybe it will be like Fender Japan and only sold in the Asian market?

Well, let's not exaggerate here. It's one bottle, in one bar, in one city, in one territory: Dawson City, Yukon. Of all my friends, I'm the only one I know of who sipped from the bottle. Just say'in.
