Good Evening.

I posted these pictures in the 'Seldom Seen' thread.

From what I have read, this and other guitars (i.e. Rickenbacker Capri) were supplied by The Guitar Player Magazine for the November 1987 photo sessions. To me, George has that "I really don't want to pose with my old Beatles guitar(s)".

Love that era of George.

Really, I love any era of George. A real mensch and killer guitar slinger.

Cool pics. I’ve seen a pic of him from a similar era posing with a gold finished Epi Casino. Not sure if that was a different photo session and/or if it was his own guitar, but he sort of had a similar expression of not being that into it. Maybe it wasn’t a particularly good Casino. 🤔

He seems very happy playing his old (and restored) Gretsch Duo Jet (he called, his 1st good guitar).

The Gretsch was a great fit for the Beatles early music with a lot of country, rockabilly influences. George always seemed to find the perfect fill or complimentary touch to John’s rhythm playing and the most tasteful leads. Never flamboyant but always tasteful with the right stuff.

It's also possible George just wasn't having a very good day and it wasn't about the guitar he was posing with.
