In these days those accusations of plagiarism would’t succeed. But okay, bring on the money and problem solved.

george's slide always sounds like a yawn to me.
I mean aside from it being boring, it actually sounds like someone yawning.

he shoulda teamed up with Michael Mcdonald to make an album to help cure impressionable insomniacs

For the record, I fall in the "I like both songs" camp, but this comment made me laugh harder than I should have.

My Sweet Lord was one of the greatest car radio songs ever, the acoustic guitars and then the slide just bursting out of the speakers, as a young person it was thrilling to hear regardless of your religion; non-religious as well. And trying to figure out what-all the chorus was singing and wondering what that was all about. I'm not one to rail on about music these days sucking as compared to old, but there's no denying that radio playlists back then had so much more of a broad scope and hence imo were far more interesting and musically educating.

We never know where our ideas come from. It can be a lullaby we heard our first year and forgotten all about. I've done the same mistake as george.
    Great song

Aw, Blowtorch, I have to disagree with you on that one! I've always felt that George's slide playing is some of the most expressive I've heard! "Free As A Bird" comes to mind...

GH is the one for me. The sounds, songs on later B-albums and his spiritiality.

I love this photo of him:

That pic and the expression in his face tells more than thousand words.

Don't want to stir the pot, but the first time I heard Kacey Musgraves' recently-popular song "Rainbow", I immediately wondered if, intentionally or unintentionally, the writer of that song was copying portions the old song by Survivor called "The Search Is Over"-- same key, too.

I’m kidding I’m kidding - it’s cool, I like that he does something different from everybody else with slide. YMMV

It doesn't pass the smell test Imo.

He ripped off the tune blatantly.

Regardless, George's take on this particular piece of music definitely brought something new to the party. "My Sweet Lord" is a beautiful song.

In retrospect, I suppose a good case can be (and was) made for that assertion; but honestly, in all the years I knew about and listened to and sang and played "My Sweet Lord", not once did I ever have an awareness of the similarity to "He's So Fine". Maybe it was just me not paying attention.
