I think it's the older discontinued model. There were a ton of Tele's on clearance but most were Mexi Standards. There was a couple of the Seymour Duncan natural finish for the same price (I think they were imports)

If it doesnt have the 60th anniv diamond symbol on the back of the headstock its one of the eariler ones. These have an acryliac lacquer finish instead of nitro.

I was in the GC in Albany, NY today. I saw signs about a clearance sale, but saw no sign of a clearance sale. I must've missed both items that were marked down. Seriously, I looked at the '52 RIs, Bajas, a couple Strats, a bunch of cases, and a few acoustics. None of the prices excited me at all except the $1350 for a '52 RI, and that was for the wrong reasons. Yikes!!

BTW; great score! I woulda walked out with that for under 4 bills!

    Mark,

There was a transition period for the HW1. I have a 2006 "pre-updated" with a 60th Anniv marker on the headstock. The neck date is March 18, 2006. The body date is April 6, 2006.

TWFS got a sweet deal on a sweet tele!

Nice score! Must be something about Washington. The only good deal I've ever got at GC was in Everett, Wa.

Look at the headstock, Fender spaghetti, older version, which is what I have. I like them better than the new ones, personally.

    Nice score!
My local GC didn't have any good Fender clearance deals. They did have a few of the Ibanez artcore semi-hollows for $193.....very tempting.

After reading this thread, I went to my local (Dallas) GC today. The Highway 1 Teles were "on sale" for $750. Woo Hoo!
