I love my two guitars. They are both Fender custom shop jazzmasters. I also have a custom shop Precision that I won’t get until April. I also have a Martin D-18 and a D 15M and I can’t sing.

I have twice owned a 3rd electric that I thought was cool but I ended up selling it because I never played it. Yet I have persistent GAS. It makes no sense. I want a Rick 4003, an American Original Jazz bass, an American original strat, and a Gretch white falcon. Yet I love my jazzmasters and will probably always pick them up when I want to play. It’s maddening.

Yep! Got it bad here too like most of us. Had three guitars at this time last year, now have thirteen! Still looking to buy something else with p90s in it, have a Gibson special dc but keep hitting the damb selector switch when I play it so shopping for another to replace this!

Sir, this is a telecaster forum. Go buy a handful and post pics, then you can go back to your jazzmasters.

Get the strat, Ric and white falcon, post pics of those too!

I have 7 electrics and I could easily live without 4 of them.

But if I went down to my 3 core guitars . . . I'd probably buy another 4.

Actually I have more of an amp GAS at the moment. It's just as bad.

We all suffer the GAS problem to some extent. No matter how many guitars I get though, my playing time never increases

Never buy a fiddle then. They're like Tribbles and yes, they all have a certain "tone".

I remember that phase and so glad to get past it. The turning point for me was finding my own signature sounds. After that, nothing has apppealed to me except for some minor curiosity ventures. I have been purging excess gear ever since.

It's not maddening. It's madness. My wife's a psychologist so I have that on good authority. There's a book that psychologists use, DSM V, Diagnostic Statistical Manual V that lists all possible mental illnesses so psychologists can pick a good diagnosis and bill the insurance company. My good authority tells me that I'm just plain nuts and that GAS will be included as a mental illness in DSM VI.

Yep- it is called collecting. We try to justify why we need things, but in the end it just comes down to collecting. It is why I have two gun safes and 11 bikes in my garage. I have a contant need to research acquisitions. I have more fun researching potential purchases and hunting for deals than I actually have by owning them. I also enjoy projects, so once I am done fixing/modifying one, I tire of it and move on to the next one.

I still want guitars but I try to be realistic, out of my horde I usually have 3 or 4 that are my “go-to” guitars

I used to have a shirt that said “so many guitars-so little time””

    How true that is

Although as of currently I only have a couple on my gas list

+1 on the Gretsch White Falcon. Shoot, I'm pretty hot on any Gretsch as of late. You can consider your fellow posters here at TDPRI as enablers. Waiting until April is crazy talk, you need something to bridge the gap!

I don’t have a favorite guitar. I’m not a performer so I don’t need more than one. But I have a collection of them so my rule is I play a different one every day so they all feel appreciated.

    Ha!

    “Quitters aren’t winners”

I saw that on a zippo lighter years ago and I think of it when I see or hear about quitting
