There's a community-wide 'garage sale' next weekend, and I've decided to put these five 'musical items' out for sale. They are things that I don't play or use, but are not worth selling online because of the cost and bother of shipping them.

Nice. I'm thinking it's time for me to clean house too.

Those Dano 12 strings go for a surprisingly high price, at least around here. Don't know what your cutoff is for not worth bothering with shipping hassle, but they cost a lot more than they did 5 years ago.

Maybe I'll take a shot at selling it on eBay then. If I get $300 for it, I'll probably need another $80 to ship it.

    Maybe $375, shipping included?

Does the bat wing guitar have "gold foil" pickups? Those seem to sell for $60-70 each.

You must be referring to the 1960's Teisco 'tulip' guitar on the right. No, I don't see ant gold foil anywhere. I bought it at a pawnshop last year for $100, and consider it a wall-hanger, though it is quite playable and has a decently low action.

if you're gonna do the Ebay thing, I'd have the buyer pay for shipping. Ebay offers discounts with the post office if you pay for shipping through them. Give the dimensions and the weight and Ebay will automatically calculate shipping costs to buyer. If I am buying a guitar off of Ebay I would expect to pay shipping.

I have bought and sold many guitars on eBay, and I always charge a set, estimated amount extra for shipping. The last guitar I sold that way was four or five months ago, and the USPS cost was about $80. I will only use the USPS, they are always substantially less than UPS or FedEx, and I've yet to have a problem with them.

No one around here puts good stuff like that out at garage sales. You are gonna make someone's day!

Keep in mind, you could ask $700 or so for the Dano with FREE shipping, and add a "Best Offer" option. After a week, you will find out what the instrument may bring. If you are lucky, it will sell in a day!

Not if it's me playing it.

What I actually need for my style of playing is an acoustic/electric 12 string, probably another Taylor....when I can afford one.

Mine is not worth a thing, but as I prefer to work on as opposed to playing guitars I couldn't resist a makeover. I'd never buy one, common as dirt and not appealing to me.. A friend found mine rotting in the elements while out walking his dog. 10 for new frets, 20 for tuners and the rest from the parts bin.

I've got virtually the same guitar, but mine is red. I'll do a post of me playing it, and that will bring the asking price back down again!
